The Los Angeles dance group “Retro” has been active since 2003, when they first performed at the Lithuanian Days festival. The group is currently led by Sigita Barysienė.
Over the years, countless dances and concerts have been performed, with participants ranging from the eėyoung to the old. Their repertoire includes dances from the 1920s to the 1970s, from can-can to disco, but their favorites remain waltz, tango, and foxtrot. The group members are Lithuanians and their spouses, not all of whom speak Lithuanian, but they have embraced Lithuanian culture and dances, including traditional folk dances.
"Retro" has performed for many Lithuanian communities from coast to coast: San Diego, San Francisco, Cleveland, Chicago, Boston, Portland, and others, as well as in Toronto, Canada. They have participated in dance festivals in Boston, Baltimore, and Philadelphia, and have performed at three festivals in Lithuania. In 2007 and 2018, "Retro" held their own concerts in Vilnius. The group recently returned from the Lithuanian Song Festival “Kad giria žaliuotų”.
