GRAND MARSHALL

Sigutė miller

Raised in the Chicago Lithuanian community, Sigutė’s roots run deep in service, song, dance, and the arts. A lifelong Lithuanian Girl Scout, she served three years as Western Regional Director and is a proud member and past president of the veteran women’s scout group Gražinietės. She currently serves on her Parish Council board and is a longtime supporter of the Daughters of Lithuania. She has emceed numerous cultural events, including the International Folk Dance Festival in Los Angeles.

For over 50 years, Sigutė has been active in both American and Lithuanian theater. She was a longtime member of the LA Lithuanian Theater Company Sambūris, where she performed for 20 years and earned two Best Actress awards at international festivals. She also sang Lithuanian folk songs at the first Lithuanian Days with Nijolė Sparkis, continuing for another decade.

Since 2022, she has performed Tragic Magic, a one-woman play she wrote and staged, which earned multiple honors: Best of the Fest at Whitefire Theatre’s SoloFest, an Encore Award at New York’s United Solo, and the Hollywood Producers’ Encore Award at The Fringe Festival. She has also brought the show to Chicago and San Francisco. In addition, she has performed with The Echo Theater Company, Sacred Fools, and Broadwater theaters. Among her favorites was Freud on Cocaine, a comedy, while her most meaningful performance was The Guys at Victory Theatre – a tribute to the New York firefighters of 9/11.

Beyond the stage, Sigutė is a competitive swimmer with U.S. Masters Swimming, winning numerous medals in her age group, including at the Senior Games. Her achievements include a Top 10 national standing in individual events and four Top 10 relay finishes, one earning All American status.

Profoundly grateful for the steadfast support of Lithuanian communities, Sigutė hopes that each of you leaves carrying a spark of Lithuania – its song, spirit, and soul.
