Founded in 1950, “Pērkonītis” is the oldest Latvian folk dance ensemble in the U.S. West Coast. For more than 70 years, generations of Latvian-Americans have carried on the tradition of Latvian folk dance in Los Angeles. The group has performed at major Latvian Song and Dance Festivals across the U.S., Canada, and Latvia, earning recognitions and awards along the way. Closer to home, “Pērkonītis” is a proud part of the Southern California Latvian community, performing at cultural celebrations, national holidays, and multicultural events throughout the region. We welcome new dancers every year, and as the group continues to grow, we share the joy of Latvian dance with audiences near and far.
