The California Women‘s Choir is a joint Lithuanian women‘s choir formed with the goal to represent California at the 100th Song Festival in Lithuania. The choir was founded and is led by Vanesa Kašelionytė, a member and artistic director of San Francisco Lithuanian community.

This newly formed amateur art ensemble held its first rehearsal in early fall 2023. The choir includes girls and women from San Francisco and Los Angeles, representing a wide range of professions and activities: speech-language pathologists and educators, psychologists and mental health mentors, mothers and students, doctors and nurses. Some began their musical journey from a young age or during their studies, whilst others had their first experience with choral singing when they joined the California Women‘s Choir rehearsals. The ensemble, which lovingly nurtures the continuity of Lithuanian folk culture and singing traditions, consists of choral music enthusiasts aged 21 to 60.

The California Women‘s Choir is a wonderful example of unity across different generations and regions of California, demonstrating that great distances are not an obstacle to bring together hearts eager to sing and represent Lithuanian culture.
