​The Los Angeles dance group "Retro" has been captivating audiences since 2003, when they first graced the stage at Lithuanian Days. Under the expert guidance of Sigita Barysienė, the group continues to thrive.

​

Through the years, the number of dances, concerts, and dancers involved is beyond measure. Young and old alike have danced together, bringing to life a repertoire spanning the 1920s to the 1970s—from the lively can-can to the vibrant disco. Yet, the timeless charm of waltzes, tangos, and foxtrots has always held a special place in their hearts. The group’s members, who include Lithuanians and their spouses, may not all speak Lithuanian, but they share a deep appreciation for Lithuanian culture and dance. Traditional Lithuanian dances, therefore, naturally find their way into their performances.

 

"Retro" has shared its passion with Lithuanian communities across North America, performing from the West Coast to the East: San Diego, San Francisco, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Boston, Portland, and Phoenix, as well as in Toronto, Canada. The group has also shone at dance festivals in Boston, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. In Lithuania, they’ve danced in three Song Festivals, with special "Retro" concerts in Vilnius in 2007 and 2018. Most recently, they returned from Lithuania's Song Festival, "Kad giria žaliuotų" ("That the Forest May Flourish").
